SOLD OUT I am excited to announce my second annual holiday ornament which features the quote from Nietzsche, "One must have chaos in oneself in order to give birth to a dancing star." I did have a friend point out that many might not see chaos as a good thing! Chaos definitely creates challenges as well as opportunities one may or may not be ready for, however, I see the chaos as part of the gift of our humanity and this amazing life we get to live. I do chuckle as I write this because some of you may have to remind me of this when the time arises in the future when I start grumbling about all the craziness and chaos in my life! Which is particularly why I chose this quote for this year, a tribute to all the dramatic change of the past year and the chaos that inherently went with it. There were times when I was good at celebrating and capitalizing on it and other times when it was much more challenging, AND since life always has some level of chaos, it doesn't hurt to have a beautiful reminder of its potential! In addition, on a completely different level, I love the reference to light which is an inherent part of several religion's holiday traditions and the celebratory aspect of dance--light and dance both being life-giving. The design of the ornament includes a silk screen print of the lettering on top of original paste paper that I created. The print is mounted on museum quality board wrapped in beautiful cream and gold rice paper. And dangling from the bottom is the highlight, a hand-twisted wire star that rotates freely. |
